This February, we want to recognize Black History Month and celebrate the leaders and voices of color who have worked hard to create pathways toward economic change. This month, take some time to educate yourself on the history of struggle, power and progress within our country's African-American communities. We must continue building a future that welcomes growth and equality for everyone in our society.

By highlighting specific stories from the past, honoring those who paved the way for progress today, and committing to the ongoing struggle for equitable rights in all aspects of life, we can work together to achieve our highest potential. Let’s use this opportunity to honor these inspiring efforts, reflect on marginalization that still exists, and amplify their message of hope and empowerment with our own practices.

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite you to reflect on his brilliant words - that life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'. For us, it means working every day to build a better future through sustainable economic development initiatives that create opportunity and equity across communities.

We celebrate the impact of Dr. King today and always while continuing to strive toward a more just and equitable society. Join us in using this day to inspire change within our communities and equip our neighbors with the economic resources they need to succeed!
