The South County Community Business Center encompasses a narrow strip of land along the southwestern segment of Richmond Highway. The South County Government Center, the Fairfax County Government regional administrative offices for southern Fairfax County. Its functions include health and human services, community meeting spaces, and adult education.
The original Mount Vernon High School, built during the Great Depression, is located just across Richmond Highway, from the South County Government Center was vacated in October of 2016 by its tenant, the Islamic Saudi Academy. The building is owned by Fairfax County, discussions of its future use are underway.
