Transportation improvements on the way, slowly
The Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance held its annual event, “What You Need to Know About Transportation,” the morning of October 3. Presentations were made by representatives of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and others.
Here’s the good news: Richmond Highway widening and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects were included in the slide presentations from VDOT and NVTA.
BUT, we still have a long way to go before these long-anticipated improvements are constructed. Most important, the funding must be secured. It gets tedious, we know, but this is a long process. Please continue to respond positively to calls to action whenever these agencies ask for public comment. We must remain steadfast and visible. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!
