World-class health care on the Richmond Highway Corridor
The 237-bed hospital broke ground in April 2012 on a $43.6 million expansion of its Mount Vernon campus. On December 9, 2014, the Mark and Brenda Moore Patient Tower was dedicated; the 65,000 SF addition features 40 new all-private rooms and state-of-the-art equipment. Construction on a 21,000 SF addition to the Emergency Room began in late September 2015 and opened on November 16, 2016.
The new emergency room has 35 private beds, a new “fast track” rooms, cardiac emergency rooms, and a specialized pediatric treatment area.
Mount Vernon has been designated a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission (the national accrediting organization for hospitals). Additionally, according to Inova Mount Vernon, the “Inova Joint Replacement Center has also earned a Gold Seal of Approval™ for outstanding care in joint replacement procedures from The Joint Commission. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is one of only six programs in Virginia to receive this distinction. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital recently received the gold seal of accreditation from the American College of Radiology for Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which means this unit meets the highest level of patient safety standards and image quality.”
